Wet and Wild

Well, I had to swelter for hours to get these 3 video clips for all of you, but I think it was worth it. The first is of Toshi just getting touched out at Hudsonville. We lost the meet 85 to 100. Tosh, of course, was not happy with his swim even though it was his best time ever. It was the end of the 500. He got a 5:35. The next clip was taken today at Northview and is of Kylie. I missed her jump in but as you can see she was off to the races. She was in the black and red suit in lane 2. The last clip is Jordan smoking it up on the last relay. I started him at his flip turn. He is in lane 3.

What makes a good birthday great???

A SWEATER VEST!!! Especially if you can get one with a built in shirt underneath! I can see some of your faces right now, perhaps they look a little something like Lori's when she first opened this glorious present, but in the end we all agreed that it looks really good. Surprise. She almost couldn't contain herself when she opened the contact solution I got her, and who could blame her, walmart brand solution, what a steal!
The fact that we ALL got french toast at Cracker Barrel, apparently scared Lori a little bit...but the rest of us just thought it was frighteningly delicious!
We hit up the Volleyball game, which was surprisingly exciting. The cougars pulled off a victory just for Lori!
And the night ended with arguably the most delicious surprise of all...An ASSORTED FLAVOR CHEESECAKE! Heaven in 4 delicious variety flavors...Go ahead, be jealous!

I'm too sexy for my hat...., well not this one!

For my birthday, Brock and Nancy(My dinosaur boss and best friend) made me a birthday balloon bash. Brock made several animal balloons and Nancy made muffins. They had no candles so they lit a match and I blew it out!! More pictures of come of the birthday bash. A sneak peak is that it included Cracker Barrel Brunch, cheesecake and a BYU men's volleyball game.

taught a lesson without a one armed man!

(If that title makes no sense to you at all, just ignore it :)
The worst part of Christmas vacation is going back home. Especially when your driveway is covered in LOTS of snow, which has splendidly turned to ice as it has sat, weighing down on itself for 2 weeks - yea.
Here's what I learned:

If you just leave it hoping it will melt - it won't.

Do not buy the shovels that have pre-bent handles, because when you throw the snow it comes back at you - not cool.

If you have someone take a picture of you after shovelling you may find yourself making a very strange face - not sure why that happens...

When your driveway is a sheet of ice you will find yourself outside for close to an hour with a metal shovel, spearing the atrocity that is your driveway, making little progress and becoming very hot in the process, at which time you will resort to wearing a VERY ridiculous outfit in order to stay cool but keep your socks and pants dry :)

If you're lucky, you'll complete a 5 x 3 ft. area and have your super trendy neighbor come out to chat when your shovel is mid heave and you are in the above described garb.

AND THAT IS WHY YOU NEVER LEAVE YOUR DRIVEWAY UNSHOVELED FOR 2 WEEKS!

This is classic dad! Toshi is laughing at dad the whole time and mom is keeping perfect time on the drums. Also, don't miss Preston bopping in the corner.

The Eye of the Tiger

Tim got this Wii band game "Guitar Hero???" and we had a blast with it. Even dad and mom joined into the fun. Here is one of the video clips of Annette making her Hollywood debut.

Japanese Food Fest

The New Year Day party was held at our house as usual. I took a photo of the 3 cooks and one of the kids eating. As you can see, the kids have gotten much bigger as the years have gone by.

The big gift of the season

Dad found a good deal on Camel Packs at MC sports so almost everyone got one for a Christmas gift. Some of us were much more in love with the camel pack than others (Preston!) but it was a big hit as you can see.

Oh no- more snow!

It seems like it did nothing but snow during December in Michigan. We had over 50 inches of snow by Christmas this year. Here are some of the Sugiyama finest doing the drill out in the driveway on Dec. 18.
