Our New Home

Well it's been awhile since our last post, but things are finally settling down here in the Mile High City. After a month in Michigan and another in Utah, I finally landed a great job in Denver. One of the highlights of our stay in Utah was the week long 12 hour days spent replacing a roof. A good experience, but definitely motivated me to get to work in a nice cushy air conditioned office. We found a fantastic apartment in Lone Tree, and absolutely love it here. Definitely a step up from our place in Baltimore.

So far the job has been going great. I work at Cherry Creek Modern Dentistry with two other Docs (http://www.cherrycreekmoderndentistry.com/ourteam.aspx/). Connie and I celebrated my first paycheck by going out to eat at this super fancy restaurant (though we did have a coupon - some things never change). Connie had the Muscovy Duck Leg Confit, and I the Iron Skillet Seared Beef Tenderloin with house made burrata and sherry consomme. Both were insanely good.

FYI...

My doctor is apparently extremely popular or extremely lazy, either way I wasn't able to get my first appt. until November 2. Sick of being sick I called in yesterday to see if there was anything they could do for me and they offered to try a B6 injection (nothing like adding a throbbing arm to the joys of all day nausea). They were able to fit me in this morning. While I was there I asked a few questions, "Why does my belly look like I'm 5 months pregnant, but my weight continues to drop?" It's a very odd feeling to look down at the scale and see a weight I couldn't have dreamed of in my fittest days and yet barely be able to see the scale because a giant belly is in the way...weird.
Question number 2, "is it possible that my baby is dead right now and I won't know until November 2 when I come in for my first appt?" It had the effect I was hoping for, the nurse offered to see if we could hear a heartbeat and I am happy to report that baby shummy-sugiyummy is still alive and well!

What were your favorite conference talks?

Ok. Mom always has to ask: what were your favorite conference talks? Mine started out being Uchtdorf's counsel to slow down and survive. But I did like Cook's 'our voices should be heard in the public square to defend gospel practices and to rescue those in cruel circumstances. Scott's 'craft a righteous character was another good one as well as Packer's counsel 'don't look back'. I loved Arnold's and Mazzagari's stories but my very favorite was Pres. Monson's talk about being grateful and not negative. How about all of you?
Which was your favorite?
