So I Married Mr. MacGyver

So the other day I decided to shave my legs since it had been a long time. I grabbed the razor and for some reason started the process at 100 mph. Shortly afterword I was at the ankle still going as fast. That was when I severed my ankle off…or at least that’s what it felt like! I thought it had finally stopped bleeding by the time I was finished, but razor cuts seem to bleed for a lifetime. That’s when Taki got the great idea to put some coagulating serum from school on the cut. It stung so badly. We hurried and wiped it off and he told me that he didn't think of it stinging since they use it on people that are already numb. He felt bad and decided to make me the ultimate white trash bandaid. It was hilarious and it worked!! Thanks goodness for duct tape and gauze.

My boyfriends

Well, I have managed to attract some men lately. This is Isaiah and he is 2 years old and totally head over heels for me. He is such a cutie, too bad he's just 25 years too young. Then I caught the eye of the 50 year old black man who worked at the phonebooks place and 3 teenage mexicans at a local restaurant. Its good to know I still got it and I feel that I am a few steps closer now to my true love.
Also, last weekend there was me against the toilet. Round 1 went to the toilet as the plunger was pathetic and only managed to flip back up at me, sending poo water all over me. Yeah, I took a long shower after round one. Round 2 involved me going to get a better plunger and then basking in my triumph as the toilet flushed!
That's really the highlights of my rather dull life in Utah as I try to figure out what to do and where to go.

Where is Indiana Jones?

At Jordan's concert on Thursday they played Indiana Jones. Just as they began playing, he put on his Indiana Jones hat and Mr. Lego said "if you look carefully, you may even see Indiana Jones somewhere in this performance". It was fun. The only problem is that the girl next to him is deaf and her interpreter sat down and blocked the photo. But, you can see him and the hat if you look carefully.

Kylie gets a hit

Last week at Kylie's game I filmed her hitting the ball on tape. In this one she got out at first, but it was a good hit. Of course, just after I left for Jordan's concert, she went all the way around the bases!

Toshi rocks San Chez

Well, we had a great time last week at San Chez watching Toshi play and eating things that we had no idea what they were. As usual, I got excited during Toshi's solo and pushed the wrong button. Kind of like when Lori caught the pop fly as catcher.. and a million other times.. At any rate, Tosh was told to play this solo just as the piece started and I don't think he had ever done it. It wasn't as good as the other one that I pointed the camera at and thought I was taping, but here goes.

The Perfect Mothers' Day

Another perfect mothers day for me. I heard from all of my children over the weekend, I bought supplies for a Peruvian quilter, cumberbunds were made, and Tosh (who didn't get the memo on no gifts) got me some nice gardening gloves- which I really needed and a delicious ice cream cake. Here I am with my delicious cake.

Annette's Graduation

We saw some ducks on campus and they were very cute. Preston had a hard time getting Annette to wear her hat.

We helped Tad clean out his apartment and made foil dinners in his fire pit.

We tried to hike to Stewart falls but found that there still was a couple of feet of snow on the trails. We had some fun anyhow and Tad and Annette did a limbo under this chain. This photo was taken just before Tad's disaster.

Dad and I got up at 5:00am to catch out flight out of Detroit to SLC for Annette's graduation. Lori picked us up and we were off to adventures!
Another highlight was making foil dinners at the fire pit near Tad's apartment. Some of his ward members were there first, but they graciously shared the area with us.
At one point I was looking for Annette in a sea of faces and then, suddenly, she was looking at me and I got the picture. I don't see that this picture made it onto the blog....
I got a video but I started it a little too soon... better than too late. I think that this video is going to be a mess. I think I see what I did wrong but it is too late and I can't change it. Also, just turn your head to the side if the video is sideways.

Mothers day dance Tongan style

We taught the primary kids this dance and it was the hit of the night! All the parents were hooting and hollering when the couples had to hold hands. I made all the cummerbunds for the boys and taught Vina how to sew. She sewed all the ties and did pretty good.

There was also a number with 21 of the younger primary and it was so cute but the video is too long. They were all wearing white shirts and yellow lava lavas with flowers in their hair. Most just did whatever with their hands but looked so so cute!

Prom Picutes

Before leaving for Utah I frantically altered Toshi's new suit and put new buttons on it. The night before we left, Tosh and I picked out flowers, Chelsea came over and the 3 of us made a corsage and boutenir. We also shopped at Kohls and Tosh picked out this "bargain" tie. It all came together very nicely as you can see in this photo. Tosh called the next day to report that he had strep. He got to the doctor and got medication with just enough time to spare to be able to go to prom. It was a nice lesson in independence for Tosh!

OUR NEW CAR!!!

Psych!!!! Believe it or not this isn't our new car. When the choice came down between two cars, this was the one I voted for but Connie wouldn't go for it. Actually, this is a picture taken at Disney World's Epcot. One of the rides was a "test drive" and as you walked out there were new cars on display for you to check out.

Although we're not sporting a new H3 Hummer, we are cruisin around in a stylish '08 Hyundai Elantra. I hope my ancestors forgive me in choosing a Korean made car, but this baby is awesome. We got a super good deal and just love it to death.

Once in a Lifetime

It all started w/ a 14 hour drive in the rain. (Taki would probably say it went downhill from there). We were both a little sick and upon arrival had to get some emergency DayQuil. Our hotel was just atrocious. The highlights include: stains on the sheets, hair on the towels, mold in the carpet, and ants on the floor. Taki later told me he killed a huge spider too, but didn't want me to get all worked up. At the end of the day, it was just nice to have a place to sleep after a long day.

Apparently Disney World consists of four different parks. Lucky for us, we were there for four days so we got to spend a day at each. Above is a picture of the fireworks at Magic Kingdom. My favorite was our last day at Animal Kingdom. It has less to do than the other parks, but the roller-coaster was fun and the entire day worked out perfectly w/ short lines. Here's a picture of Taki outside of the 3-D Bug's Life show which turned out to be super cool. The best ride of all was in the Hollywood Studies Park: the Tower of Terror. I loved it because it was just the right amount of scary. It would drop you in the dark at random moments. Taki took a video which he thinks is hilarious. You can hear him laughing in the background while I scream.

Taki's favorite ride was called the Rock'n'Roller Coaster. It went upside-down in the dark and had colorful neon lights throughout. It was cool, but by far the longest line we stood in the entire time. Right when we could see the entrance, the ride shut down, but at that point we couldn't just leave. I think it ended up being almost 2.5 hours long. But of all the rides and shows that Disney has to offer, it was the Roasted Turkey Leg that turned out to be the biggest hit. Taki had been eying them the entire time and finally broke down and bought one. He scarfed it down in no time, and had the biggest smile the entire time.

One of the craziest rides was Mission Space at Epcot. It simulated a launch into space and then landing on Mars. At the beginning there was the choice of the "More Intense" or "Less Intense" experience. Taki of course laughed saying, "That's not even a choice." The picture at the right shows him right before entering the space simulator, primed and ready to serve his country. The ride was actually super intense. It simulated the G-forces during take off, the weightless-ness in outer space, and the G-forces upon landing. I don't know if he didn't keep his head back, or eyes focused on the screen, but afterwards he stumbled out of there in a complete mess. He tried acting tough and playing it cool as we walked outside, but once there he crashed down on a grassy hill where he stayed for the next half hour. In his words, "It totally kicked my trash." So I guess I never have to worry about him flying off into out space.

The rest of Epcot had an "Around the World" Theme where each section represented a different country. It reminded me of all the countries I was able to visit 2 years ago. We took our picture at the Japan location, which has the notorious "Epcot Ball" in the background. Inside the ball is the ride Spaceship Earth documenting the history of communication. It ends w/ a cool little video clip that it makes depicting your future from answers to various questions throughout the ride. You can then have the video emailed to you as a souvenir.

Hollywood studios had our two favorite rides, as well as some neat shows. My favorite was probably the Beauty and the Beast musical. One of their new attractions is the American Idol Experience where each day they have contestants try out and perform during six separate shows. They then take the winners and have a final show where the winner gets a golden ticket good for any front line tryout for the real American Idol. We went to the final show and they make it as real as possible with judges, performance, and audience judging. Even though we didn't try out, I did strike a pose in front of the back-drop.

At the end of the night they have this huge show called Fantasmic. It had fireworks, water shows, all the disney characters, and tons of cool stuff. A definite must see.
After the fun was over we checked out of our dumpy hotel and headed for Daytona Beach. It was beautiful and the sand was so soft. We had a nice little picnic and then left. The wind was blowing in a storm so we just starteed our drive home a little early. We stopped in Savannah, Ga where we went to dinner and watched some tv. It was definitely the most relaxing part of the vacation.

The next morning we headed home w/ no temporary license plate. It had fallen off in a rainstorm on the way down. Luckily we didn't get pulled over until Virginia because I made Taki drive from that point on in case it happened again. He was such a good sport to take me to Disney World waking up at 7 and going to bed at 11 day after day, but he is adamant about being the one to plan our next "vacation."
