A Wierdly Awesome Thanksgiving
Preston's in Las Vegas this month for a trauma surgery rotation, so I drove down there for Thanksgiving. It was a little wierd and a little awesome.
WIERD PARTS:
1. We had to stand in line for 45 minutes to get our thanksgiving meal(unfortunately we had starved ourselves all day so that we could cram in the turkey, so the line was not a happy moment)
2. There was no other family there - wierd.
3. NO PECAN PIE! For most of my life I have avoided this pie because it looked wierd, but about 5 years ago I discovered the deliciousness of it! Ever since then I've been trying to make up for the many years when I didn't eat it, by eating as much as possible every thanksgiving. so I guess next year I'll have to eat a whole pie :)
4. I had to go day after thanksgiving shopping by myself and stand in line at Kohls for 1.5 hours because my dad wasn't there to stand in line for me :)
5. My arm suddenly hurt after shopping and I thought for sure it was a blood clot - but it was actually just a sore bicep from holding all my stuff while in line for hours!
6. My anatomy lab final was the monday we got back from break, so the whole time I felt like I should be studying.
AWESOME PARTS:
1. We were staying in a REALLY nice house, basically nicer than any hotel we've ever stayed in, for FREE!
2. Thanksgiving dinner was everything it should be and more! WE went to a buffet at Golden Nugget, which had Turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, sweet potatoes, and pies; but also prime rib, steak, ham, shrimp, bread pudding, sushi, sorbet, mac and cheese, salmon, and chicken! Naturally I didn't drink anything and crammed in as much meat as possible to get my moneys worth.
3. Preston won $1.50 gambling, but then made me gamble it until I lost it (which didn't take long) because he felt guilty leaving with a profit.
4. I got some SWEET deals at Kohls and JC Penny.
5. I didn't have a blood clot!
6. Instead of studying for my final, I spent most of my free time watching "Top Chef" on Bravo!
All in all, it was a wonderfully strange Thanksgiving break.

Ok, I'm not going to show dad this post for reasons you all know. Yeah, it was a weird Thanksgiving. I can't wait for you guys to get settled and have enough money to come home regularly for holidays.
Sounds like a saweeet Thanksgiving to me. It's too bad Pres didn't win like $200, then you guys could've gambled it up all day. But then you'd get addicted and Nets would be taking secret trips to Vegas and various Indian Reservations never finishing school. So it's probably a good thing.
Oh my gosh, no one knows you like family!
