April Conference

Dad and I were able to go to the temple on Thursday during our spring break. We asked someone to take our photo outside. I was impressed with Elder Bednar's talk about those who are active in the church and run occasionally in and out of the temple. I saw myself in that statement and we made an effort to go this week. There were obviously many others who made the same committment as the noon session was full and they had to add 7 or 8 chairs. I hope that each of you will comment on your favorite part of conference so that we all can share our experience.

I really enjoyed Uchtdorf's "Discipleship is a journey" talk. I liked how he says that the "flame of each new theory" fades with time and that the real secret to happiness and success lies in the gospel of Jesus Christ. I always find his talks comforting and encouraging.

I was a big fan of Oaks talk. Especially the line, "You can't be a lifesaver if you look like every other swimmer on the beach."

I think it was Hales who talked about prudent living. It was the first talk of conference and it was excellent. I especially liked that he said we should ask ourselves, "can I afford it?" but then when the answer is YES we should then ask, "do I need it and what could I better be using this money for?" I have to keep that in mind as we start making some money!
