Unexpectedly Somewhat Awesome Thanksgiving

Just as work and school ended, and as we happily looked toward our Thanksgiving break, Connie came down with a nasty flu bug. I was wondering about H1N1, but Dr. Connie ruled out that differential after reading about its symptoms on Web.md. It's her new favorite website whenever someone gets sick. Unfortunately she acquired a monster cough the day before Thanksgiving. That night we hit up Walmart's pharmacy pulling every cold/cough/flu drug known to man. Despite being pumped with dextromethorphan, we had to cancel our invite for Thanksgiving dinner. Connie was quite upset thinking as though she ruined Thanksgiving for the both of us. Little did she know, the best/fastest Thanksgiving dinner was just around the corner. We started the morning off with our 2nd annual turkey pancakes breakfast. As you can see the first few came out looking more like elephants, but after a handful I started to find my turkey groove. Since all we had planned to bring to our dinner was corn and olives, we had a little shopping to do. We decided to treat ourselves to food that we normally wouldn't buy, so we each picked out our own dessert, and these sweet Bertoli frozen entrees. As you can see prep time was a breeze, and our lovely dinner turned out fantastic. Both of our dinners tasted absolutely delicious, and the apple pie and fruit torte for dessert was simply divine.

Of course it's not a Thanksgiving break without an early morning Black Friday extravaganza. When we woke up at 3:15, Connie wanted to stay in bed. After a little convincing about keeping with tradition and hitting all the sales, we were out the door. Four hours later we were pulling back into our apt. complex with everything checked off our list. So all in all, an awesome Thanksgiving that unfortunately Connie wasn't able to fully enjoy.

Is the first turkey pancake a hunchback...or perhaps that's a tumor...yikes. HILARIOUS tradition though, I may have to steal it :)

I'm fairly certain it's against the law to eat italian food on thanksgiving....or at least it should be...although it did actually look quite tasty....

Sorry Con, hope you're feeling better.

Loved the Turkey pancakes. Good thing you had a photo or I would have thought they contained turkey;)
Sounds like you made the best of a tough situation but a better solution would have been to get in the car and keep on driving until you got to Michigan.

Annette, it's Wally-your goiter, reincarnated since he never really grew in you. Second pancake was awesome! It's tough to make a turkey and I know cause I am a pancake master.
Way to rock Black Friday. I'm sure there will never be a year like the Talk boy year but it's still fun. I rocked a few sales too!
