Devils Head

With the weather as gorgeous as ever we had to take advantage of the awesome Colorado outdoors. We decided to do the much talked about Devils Head hike. We went with another couple, and found it to be a pretty pleasant hike. It's pretty much your standard hike, but at the top is this nice wide open grass area perfect for a picnic or what not. There's also a little cabin next to the field where the ranger stays when he's not looking for fires. Fires you ask, well Devils Head has a lookout tower located 143 stairs upward right on top of a rock. Since you can see for miles in all directions, it's an active ranger site used to spot fires. Connie thought it was hilarous that I was scared as we walked around the tower cause it was super windy and I felt like I could be blown off to my death at any moment. It was coold to go into the tower and talk to the ranger. The ranger was this cool old guy who kindly answered all of Connie's questions. Later she realized a piece of paper with "Commonly Asked Ranger Questions/Answers" with most of the questions she just asked. Ooops.

You guys have all the fun!!!! I hope we do something fun when I come later in the month. Only 4 more days of work for me until retirement!!! Net and I leave Tuesday about 5 from Kalamazoo and will drive to Davenport Iowa and stay the night. We don't know where we will stay the second night but we need to get to SLC by Thursday night.

How cool would it have been to spot a fire while you were up there?! I mean, I guess fires aren't cool...but you know what I mean.
