The following day w/ school and work both off we decided to take a trip to the lake. After gathering our things, we excitedly rented a boat and set out for a 7 hour fishing expedition. We cruised the lake, enjoyed a nice picnic on the lake, and basked in the pleasant scenery during a spectacular day. Pretty much did everything but catch fish. Connie hates it when I use my, "That's why they call it fishing; not catching" line, and gave up about halfway through the day. However, she did take control of the motor and steered us right along the banks as I continued to fish. Finally, in the last spot of the day near the docks we gave it one final hurrah. With only fifteen minutes to spar Connie landed the biggest bluegill I have ever seen. In the picture you can see that it's almost the size of her head. It was a really exciting end to a long fishless day. We each got a catch, though mine was no bigger than something you'd find in a goldfish bowl.
Our final adventure for the weekend came as we celebrated the 4th of July at our Nation's Capitol. We rolled down to D.C. just in time to catch Barry Manilow, Natashia Bettingfield, and good ole Aretha Franklin perform at the Capitol's festivities. We then meandered our way down the National Mall to snag a sweet spot for the fireworks over the Washington Monument. The perfect place to celebrate our freedom and independence.

Wish I had sent something more exciting than "green bags" since Connie was so excited. I always love your posts.
HIL-ARIOUS! If only there had been barely blown up brown and black balloons! Love it.
I must say that I'm TOTALLY jealous that you saw THE manilow in person!
7 HOURS of fishing! You guys are NOT messing around! Congrats on the big catch Con.
I can't believe you saw Mr. manilow. Is your life complete now? Mine would be. Oh, and Happy late birthday. I totally spaced it with my big presentation and job interview. My bag!Lol.
Can someone explain "Dwight esk" to me? Also, barely blown up brown and black balloons... I obviously am not in the loop on this one.. That pie sure looks good right about now.
Oh moms...it's from that show you hate "the office." There's a character named dwight who is HILARIOUS and he's very matter of fact and he became in charge of the party planning committee and made a sign for someone's birthday that said, "it is your birthday" and had a bunch of brown and black balloons barely blown up on the walls. ok when I explain it it doesn't sound that funny...I'll have to show you the clip.
